СУХИЕ СТРОИТЕЛЬНЫЕ СМЕСИ НА ОСНОВЕ ПРИРОДНОЙ ГИДРАВЛИЧЕСКОЙ ИЗВЕСТИ (NHL 3.5) С ДОБАВКОЙ РЕЗИНОВОЙ КРОШКИ, ПОЛУЧЕННОЙ ИЗ ОТРАБОТАННЫХ ПОКРЫШЕК (in Russian)

The use of wastes and industrial by-products as building materials is an important issue in order to decrease costs with waste management and the embodied energy of building products. In this study scrap tire rubber was used as additional aggregate of mortars based on natural hydraulic lime NHL 3.5 and natural sand. Different particle size fractions and proportions of scrap tire rubber were used: a mix obtained directly from industry and separated fine, medium and coarse fractions; 0 %, 18 %, 36 % and 54 % of the weight of binder, corresponding to 2.5 %, 5 % and 7.5 % of the weight of sand. As mortars based on NHL specifications became stricter with the current version of EN 459–1:2015, the influence of the rubber’s additions on the mortars’ fresh state, mechanical and physical performance is presented in this work: flow table consistency, water retention, dynamic elasticity modulus, flexural and compressive strength, open porosity and bulk density, capillary absorption, drying and thermal conductivity are studied. The use of the rubber mix coming from the waste tire industry seems advantageous and may open possibilities for use as raw material by the mortars industry.Secil Argamassa

NHL 3.5 mortars with scrap tire rubber

Scrap tire rubber has been studied as aggregate for cementitious materials. Natural hydraulic limes are natural binders with particular characteristics of both air and hydraulic binders. Their specifications became stricter with the last version of EN 459-1:2010. In this study scrap tire rubber was used as additional aggregate of mortars, based on NHL3.5 and natural sand. Different particle size fractions and proportions of scrap tire rubber were used: a mix obtained almost directly from industry (only after sieving for preparation of particle sizes similar to mortar aggregate) and separated fine, medium and coarse fractions; 0%, 18%, 36% and 54% weight of binder, corresponding to 2.5%, 5% and 7.5% weight of sand. The influence of the rubbers´ additions on the mortars´ fresh state, mechanical and physical performance is presented, namely by flow table consistency, water retention, fresh bulk density, dynamic elasticity modulus, flexural and compressive strength, open porosity and bulk density, capillary absorption, drying and thermal conductivity. Argamassas de cal hidráulica natural com resíduos de borracha da recauchutagem de pneus

Existe uma consciencialização global e crescente do modo como o ser humano afeta diretamente o ambiente. É notável a preocupação exponencial com a sustentabilidade ambiental aos mais diversos níveis, preocupação esta ligada também ao setor da construção. É um dado adquirido que uma das grandes problemáticas ambientais da nossa geração é a reciclagem de pneus, estando o seu número de produção e consumo a atingir níveis elevadíssimos. Para atenuar estes níveis de poluição, e principalmente para diminuir gastos, as fábricas de recauchutagem reaproveitam grande parte de pneus usados, substituindo-lhes a parte de borracha degradada por nova A problemática é também assunto recorrente em Portugal, onde nas últimas décadas tem havido uma grande preocupação no seu tratamento por forma a evitar um elevado aumento de poluição, embora muitas fábricas de recauchutagens tenham vindo a encerrar nos últimos anos. A presente dissertação insere-se na procura de soluções para os resíduos inerentes à recauchutagem de pneus, estudando argamassas de cal hidráulica natural NHL3,5 com a adição de resíduos de borracha desta indústria. Foram realizadas argamassas com partículas de resíduo de borracha cuja dimensão é inferior a 2,36 mm. Os resíduos foram diferenciados em três tipos: resíduo “fino” (Fr), com partículas de dimensão inferior a 0,212 mm; resíduo “médio” (Mr), com partículas de dimensão entre os 0,212 mm e os 0,6 mm; e resíduo “grosso” (Cr), com partículas entre os 0,6 mm e os 2,36 mm. Com a mistura integral do resíduo, foram feitas formulações de argamassas com adição de 2,5%, 5% e 7,5% relativas à massa de areia, sendo posteriormente feitas argamassas com 5% de adição apenas de cada uma das identificadas. Os resultados obtidos mostram que as argamassas com resíduo de borracha menor resistência à tração e à compressão, mas apresentam menor módulo de elasticidade dinâmico e condutibilidade térmica, características que as podem tornar mais adequadas para alguns tipos de aplicações na construção. Particularmente a argamassa com 5% de mistura de frações granulométricas apresenta características que justificam o aprofundamento da sua caracterização, para otimização como argamassa a ser industrializada

Does psychache mediate the relationship between general distress and suicide ideation?

This study evaluated whether psychache (i.e., mental pain) mediates the association between general distress, assessed as the frequency and the intensity of psychological symptoms in the previous week, and suicide ideation in community adults. For a sample of 202 adults, psychache fully mediated the relationship between suicide ideation and the frequency of psychological symptoms, and partially mediated the relationship between suicide ideation and the intensity of psychological symptoms. As such, mental pain fully or partially explains the process linking the frequency and the intensity of general distress to suicide ideation and, thus, mental pain is a target for potential intervention

Suicide Ideation in Older Adults Recovering from Acute Conditions in a Clinical Recovery Facility

The aim of the current study was to assess suicide ideation in a sample of older adults recovering from acute conditions in a clinical recovery facility of the Portuguese Red Cross. Four indicators of suicide ideation were used. Clinical, contextual, and psychological variables—namely, previous suicide attempts, death of a family member suicide, loneliness, and interpersonal needs—were also tested to determine whether they were related to suicide ideation. Findings show suicide ideation is frequent at admission and related to patients’ previous suicide attempts. Death of a family member by suicide and patients’ functional dependency are related to some indicators of suicide ideation, and loneliness and interpersonal needs are important psychological variables relating to suicide ideation. Interpersonal needs were related to suicide ideation even after controlling for previous suicide attempts. Implications of the results for clinical practice are discussed. Os quadros interativos têm vindo a ganhar importância na nossa sociedade, tanto a n vel empresarial como, e sobretudo, a nivel escolar. Interpersonal needs, depressive symptoms and suicide ideation in a sample of elderly patients recovering from acute medical conditions

The aim of the present study was to test whether perceived burdensomeness and thwarted belongingness are related to suicide ideation, when controlling for depressive symptoms. The sample consisted of elderly patients recovering from acute medical conditions who were recruited in a medical recovery clinic. Results demonstrated that depressive symptoms and thwarted belongingness related to the suicide ideation item of the Beck Depression Inventory-II, used as an indicator of suicide ideation. Depressive symptoms and thwarted belongingness also discriminated between participants with suicide ideation and participants without suicide ideation as defined by suicide items of the Symptom Driven Diagnostic System for Primary Care. Results are discussed in terms of potential cultural influences, and clinical implications are highlighted
